Heat guns are used in the roofing industry to lap weld difficult areas such as near vents and edges. To lap weld PVC a temperature of approximately 775- 875°F (415 - 470°C) is delivered with a angled slit nozzle placed between overlapping sheets of PVC material until the surface becomes soft and begins to stick together. Pressure is applied with a silicone seam roller on the top of the PVC to ensure the two pieces of material adhere securely. Hypalon, modified bitumen and TPO are worked at higher temperature ranges.
